On February 28, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony for this EPC-based project carried out by Shiyi Huahua Construction Company was held in the industrial park of Naomaohu Town, Yiwu County. It is reported that the 500,000 tons per year coal tar hydrogenation project of Yiwu Jiangna New Materials Co., Ltd. is located in the Naomaohu Industrial Park in Yiwu County, Hami, Xinjiang. It is one of the sub-projects of the integrated industrial project for the clean, efficient, and comprehensive processing of low-grade coal on a scale of 5.5 million tons per year. It mainly includes a 500,000 tons per year coal tar hydrogenation unit, a hydrogen production unit, 2×135MW power generation units, a heat island system, and related supporting projects. This project meets the strategic requirements of the Western Development Initiative. Once completed, it will play a significant role in promoting coal development in the Hami region, facilitating the conversion of resources, exploring ways for differentiated utilization of these resources, and driving local economic development. On October 13, 2020, China National Chemical Engineering Corporation No. 11 and Yiwu Jiangna New Materials Co., Ltd. signed an EPC contract for a 500,000-ton/year coal tar hydrogenation project along with its associated facilities at the headquarters of Jiangna New Materials Company. The contract value for this project is 3.5 billion yuan, making it the largest EPC project in the chemical industry undertaken by 11th Chemical Construction Company. The project is located in the industrial park of Naomaohu Town, Yiwu County, Hami City, Xinjiang. It will be constructed in three phases: Phase 1 will involve the construction of a new low-rank coal pyrolysis unit with an annual capacity of 5 million tons, a clean coal production unit with an annual capacity of 1 million tons, a coal tar hydrogenation unit with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons (including a naphtha reforming unit with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons), as well as various utility facilities ; Phase 2 construction of a 200,000 tons/year green methanol plant using waste gas, a 100,000 tons/year formaldehyde methyl acetal plant, an LNG plant producing 80,000 tons/year as a by-product of waste gas purification, and utility facilities ; Phase 3: Construction of a 200,000 tons/year green ethylene glycol plant using waste gas, along with the associated utility systems. Leveraging the coal resources of Xinjiang Jianna Mining Co., Ltd., this project develops initiatives for the graded and differentiated utilization of low-grade coal in areas where such resources are abundant. The by-product gas generated during coal processing is used, through PSA technology, to extract CO, H2, and CO2 for the production of methanol and ethylene glycol with high added value. The coal tar produced as a by-product is subjected to full-range hydrogenation refining to yield high-quality petroleum products.
