Review Meeting for the 90% 3D Model of the Gasification Unit in Yueneng Chemical’s Ethylene Glycol Project Held Author/Source: Yueneng Chemical Date: 2021-03-30 Clicks: 5 From March 23 to 26, a review meeting for the 90% 3D model of the gasification unit in Yueneng Chemical’s ethylene glycol project was successfully held at Tianchen Engineering Company in Tianjin. Wang Haishè, the deputy general manager of the company, various technical professionals, designers from Tianchen Engineering Company, and relevant personnel from Colin Company attended this review meeting. During the review period, the participants conducted detailed discussions and evaluations on aspects such as process technology, pipeline layout, operability, inspection and maintenance, as well as safety and environmental protection. Based on their experience from actual on-site operations, they provided suggestions; 90% of the 3D models were optimized, and the review comments regarding 60% of the 3D models were implemented and verified one by one. The content and depth of the model meet the requirements of this model review; the equipment layout is satisfactory, and the piping configuration is relatively reasonable. A total of 61 optimization suggestions were developed. The review of the 90% 3D model of the gasification unit is an important milestone in the project design. The successful completion of the review marks another step forward in the design work for the gasification unit, and it also lays the foundation for the subsequent procurement of pipeline materials and the construction and installation of equipment. The first phase of the project to produce 400,000 tons per year of ethylene glycol as part of Shaanxi Yulin Energy Group Co., Ltd.’s 1.2 million tons per year ethylene glycol production capacity, is a project that marks the commencement of operations at the coal-based clean fuel and high-end chemical materials manufacturing bases located in the Qingshui Industrial Park of the Yushen Industrial Zone. The total planned land area for this project is 1,711 mu; the estimated investment amount is 6.243 billion yuan, with 532.6274 million yuan allocated to environmental protection measures. The construction period is set at 30 months, with completion and operation scheduled for June 2022. The project utilizes production processes such as coal-based syngas production; carbon monoxide and hydrogen are used to indirectly synthesize ethylene glycol through carbonylation, coupling, and hydrogenation, with by-products including dimethyl carbonate, crude ethanol, mixed alcohols, sulfur, liquid oxygen, and liquid nitrogen. The main facilities include those for coal-based syngas production, purification and separation, ethylene glycol synthesis, boiler-based power generation, air separation units, as well as various supporting utility systems. The project construction includes a gasification unit, a purification unit, an H2/CO separation unit, an ethylene glycol unit, etc. The utility systems and supporting auxiliary facilities include: 3×350t/h high-temperature and high-pressure circulating fluidized bed boilers + 2×30MW back-pressure steam turbine generator sets, air separation units, circulating water stations, desalination stations, storage and transportation facilities, sewage treatment plants, etc. The gasification unit employs the Collin powder coal gasification technology and includes 2 powder coal gasifiers ; The ethylene glycol plant utilizes the Zhongke Yuandong ethylene glycol technology.
