China National 11th Construction Corporation wins bid for methanol production project using coke oven gas from Baofeng Energy – Author/Source: Gasification World, Date: 2021-05-10, Clicks: 19. Recently, China National 11th Construction Corporation won the bid for a project to produce methanol by utilizing coke oven gas from Ningxia Baofeng Energy Group Co., Ltd., with the bid amount being 150 million yuan. The construction scope of this project includes the non-catalytic conversion unit in Area A, coke oven gas desulfurization, synthesis compression and synthesis units, the pipeline connections for the second-phase methanol project and the coke oven gas-to-methanol project, underground pipes within the plant area, as well as pipe galleries and pipelines within the plant area; the total area covered is approximately 8,000 square meters. Zone B includes facilities such as pretreatment, coke oven gas compression, TSA temperature swing adsorption, the civil foundation for gas tanks and the connections to existing production pipelines, underground pipes within the plant area, pipe galleries and pipelines within the plant area, the foundations for flares and associated equipment, as well as flare pipe galleries and pipelines. It covers an area of approximately 25,000 square meters, and it also involves the renovation of pipe galleries and pipeline installation across Zones A and B, with a total length of around 5,000 meters. The core of this project is to convert coke oven gas waste into methanol through transformation, desulfurization, and synthesis under compression; it is an environmental protection project. Once the project is put into operation, it will enhance the industrial chain of Baofeng Energy Group, providing it with the momentum for high-quality transformation and upgrading through green development. Project Overview: In April 2020, Baofeng Energy’s 3 million tons per year coal coking integrated production project was officially launched as one of the first major projects in the Ningdong base for that year. This project features a high degree of integration, a complete downstream industrial chain, a wide range of applications for raw coal with high utilization efficiency, significant scale advantages, and stronger profitability. Once the project is completed and put into operation, the company’s coke production capacity will reach 7 million tons per year, making it one of the largest independent coking enterprises in China and contributing to the development of the coke industry in the direction of cleaner and more efficient production methods. At the same time, the integrated circular economy industry chain for \"coal, coke, gas, chemicals, oil, and electricity\" has been strengthened, enabling the transformation of coal resources from fuel to chemical raw materials as well as their clean and efficient utilization. Located in Ningdong Town, Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, this project involves the construction of two new coke ovens along with associated facilities, with an designed annual production capacity of 3 million tons of coke. The oven type selected is a 4x65-hole, 6.25-meter side-loading tamped coke oven; it is one of the first major projects in the Ningdong area for the year 2020. The main engineering components include a coal storage and preparation system, a coking system (including wet quenching of coke, coke screening, surface dust removal stations, and flue gas desulfurization and denitrification for coke ovens), as well as supporting facilities such as a gas purification and recovery system.
