On the morning of May 9, Sinochem Sixth Construction Co., Ltd. entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Xinjiang Zhonghe Hezhong New Materials Co., Ltd., the first acetic acid production enterprise in the Xinjiang region. Sinochem Sixth Construction is responsible for all procurement and construction work on this project. Xinjiang Zhonghe Hezhong New Materials Co., Ltd.’s integrated project for the annual production of 1 million tons of carboxylic acids and their downstream products is a key project in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The main raw materials for this project are coal, methanol, and oxygen; coal and methanol are purchased externally, while oxygen is produced by the project’s air separation unit. Once operational, it will be able to produce 1 million tons per year of acetic acid and 150,000 tons per year of acetic anhydride, thereby alleviating the shortage of these products in the northwest region. Sinochem Sixth Construction has successively undertaken acetic acid plant projects for Shanghai Wujing Chemical Plant, Tianjin Bohua, Shandong Hualu Hengsheng, Yankuang Guotai Chemical, Henan Longyu Coal Chemical, and Dalian Hengli. Nature of the construction: new construction. Location: The planned site for the factory is located on the south side of Xingguang Avenue in the Circular Economy Industrial Park, within the Hami Industrial Park in Yizhou District, Hami City, Xinjiang. Total investment: 3,379,476.1 million RMB, of which approximately 186,300 million RMB is allocated to environmental protection measures. Scope and scale of the construction: The project uses coal and oxygen as raw materials to produce carbon monoxide; methanol purchased from outside is then used together with carbon monoxide in a carbonylation reaction to produce carboxylic acids. The project will be constructed in two phases. In the first phase, 1 set of gasification unit with a capacity of 13×104 Nm3/h, 1 set of purification unit with a capacity of 30×104 Nm3/h, 1 set of carbon monoxide separation unit with a capacity of 6×104 Nm3/h, 1 set of sulfur recovery unit with an annual capacity of 0.35 million tons, 1 set of acetic acid production unit with an annual capacity of 1 million tons, 1 set of acetic anhydride production unit with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons, and 1 set of air separation unit with a capacity of 50,000 Nm3/h will be built. Additionally, corresponding storage and transportation facilities, utility systems, environmental protection facilities, and auxiliary production facilities will also be installed. In the first phase, the annual production capacity is 1 million tons of acetic acid and 150,000 tons of acetic anhydride; as by-products, 917 tons of propionic acid, 3,200 tons of sulfur, 6,311 tons of ammonia water, 20,776 tons of hydrogen, and 1,569 tons of ammonium sulfate are produced.
