Contract signed for EPC general contracting of Phase 1 of Wanhua Chemical’s 800,000-ton/year PVc production project / Author/Source: Huahua Network – Coal Chemical Industry / Date: May 18, 2021 / Clicks: 4. On May 17, China Chengda Engineering Co., Ltd. and Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd. held a ceremony at the Chengda Building to sign the contract for the EPC general contracting of Phase 1 of Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Co., Ltd.’s 800,000-ton/year PVc production project. Wanhua’s PVC project in Fujian is an important component of the Wanhua Fujian MD/TD Industrial Park. Wanhua Chemical (Fujian) Co., Ltd. plans to build facilities for the production of MD at a capacity of 400,000 tons per year and TD at a capacity of 250,000 tons per year (as part of an expansion), with isocyanate production units as the core of these facilities. Additionally, gasification units that use coal as raw material will be constructed to supply the CO gas required for MD and TD production, as well as H2 gas needed for aniline synthesis. The company also intends to set up facilities for the production of formaldehyde using the air oxidation method, with methanol as the raw material. During the production process of the MD|TD project, a large amount of hydrogen chloride is generated as a by-product. In order to make use of this hydrogen chloride and improve the overall efficiency of resource utilization, Wanhua Fujian has built a PVC production facility with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, using the generated HC to produce polyvinyl chloride, thereby achieving comprehensive recycling of chlorine resources. The main production capacities of this project are 800,000 tons per year of VCM and 800,000 tons per year of PVC; the by-product, hydrochloric acid accounting for 25% by weight, amounts to 75,200 tons per year. New VCM and PVC production facilities will be built, along with supporting facilities such as an EDC tank farm, a VCM tank farm, a refrigeration station, low-temperature storage facilities, PVC packaging plants, substations for the VCM/PVC facilities, and cabinet rooms. The total investment in the project is 463.2 billion yuan.
