The ammonia synthesis project as part of Sinochem Fuling’s environmental relocation initiative successfully completed the lifting of large-scale used equipment. Author/Source: China Fuling Date: 2021-06-03 Clicks: 6 At 17:50 on May 31, the upper section of the regeneration tower for the ammonia synthesis project was lifted into place, marking the successful completion of the task of lifting these large-scale used pieces of equipment. This achievement laid a solid foundation for the subsequent installation of process pipelines. It is understood that in order to ensure the two crawler cranes could be brought in for assembly in advance, Chengda Company and Sihua Construction began on-site preparation work in mid-April. During the early stages of construction, as the main roads at the site had not yet been completed and most of the area was covered with soft soil, the site became extremely muddy when it rained, causing great inconvenience to the construction work. The various construction units involved in civil work, installation, anti-corrosion and insulation tasks operate simultaneously at the site; moreover, the construction area is quite limited, which poses significant challenges in selecting locations for crane stations, carrying out foundation treatment, and determining the areas suitable for lifting operations. Finally, the project team carried out overall planning, actively communicated and coordinated with the general contractor and the construction units, optimized the construction areas and sequence of work, thereby ensuring the smooth execution of the lifting operations for large-scale equipment. The installation of the heat exchanger for the first unit in the ammonia synthesis project, which is used for heat exchange between the tower and other components, began on May 14th, marking the start of the equipment lifting work for this project. The heaviest piece of equipment, the ammonia synthesis tower, weighed 220 tons, and was successfully lifted into place at 17:45 on May 18. At 18:19 on May 19, the second-stage furnace was successfully lifted into place. At 12:51 on May 21, the high and low voltage converter was successfully lifted into place. The highest unit, the regeneration tower, is about 56.2 meters tall and was lifted in two stages. The lower section was successfully installed at 18:35 on May 16, while the upper section was successfully installed at 17:50 on May 31, after the anti-corrosion and insulation work as well as the installation of the platform ladders were completed. To date, a total of 24 static equipment units have been installed for the ammonia synthesis project.
