Construction begins on Shanxi Pengwan Hydrogen Port’s 20,000 tons/year hydrogen production project using coke oven gas / Author/Source: Gasification World / Date: 2021-06-17 / Clicks: 4 Recently, the preliminary preparations for the construction of Shanxi Pengwan Hydrogen Port’s 20,000 tons/year hydrogen production project using coke oven gas, carried out by Jiuhua Jian Zhongyuan Branch, have been completed, and the project has now commenced construction. Since receiving the start-up instructions on April 15, 2021, the project team has made efforts to assemble a high-quality management team, formulate reasonable construction plans, and arrange for the timely delivery of construction materials. It has completed various tasks such as the pouring of the cup-shaped section at the top of the independent foundation of the compressed factory building, the replacement of soil with 3:7 lime-soil mixture in the foundation, and the pouring of the cushion layer. Additionally, it has accelerated the work of binding the foundation rebar and some of the rebar used in desulfurization processes, thereby laying a solid foundation for the full commencement of construction on the project. The 20,000 tons per year hydrogen production project from coking gas at Shanxi Pengwan Hydrogen Port involves the construction of a hydrogen production facility with a designed capacity of 20,000 tons per year; the total investment in this project amounts to 20 billion yuan. Once completed and put into operation, this project will play a significant role in promoting the local economic and social development as well as the transformation and upgrading of industries. Regarding the Pengwan Hydrogen Port Hydrogen Energy Industrial Park project, this park has an investment scale of 10 billion yuan. It is a hydrogen energy comprehensive utilization industrial park developed through a partnership between Pengfei Group and the American Gulf Environmental Systems Company. Its designed production capacity is 200,000 tons of hydrogen per year, with construction taking place in three phases. The hydrogen production method relies primarily on coke oven gas, with coal-based hydrogen production serving as a supplementary method. The park is planned to integrate functions such as hydrogen production, storage, refueling, transportation, as well as downstream industries and research and development, aiming to become a influential hydrogen energy industry demonstration site in Shanxi Province and across the country. The main products of this project are gaseous hydrogen and “organic liquid hydrogen” using methylcyclohexane as a carrier, which can be widely applied in fields such as oil refining, the metallurgical industry, and hydrogen fuel vehicles.
