Enerchem’s integrated dust removal, desulfurization, and denitrification upgrades for its coal-fired boiler systems have enabled ultra-low emissions. The three 480t/h coal-fired boilers put into operation by Enerchem in 2013 met the requirements of the current **air pollution emission standards for thermal power plants (GB 13223-2011)**. In 2015, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the National Development and Reform Commission issued Notice No. Huan Fa [2015] 164, which called for the comprehensive implementation of ultra-low emission and energy-saving upgrades in coal-fired power plants; by 2020, it was aimed that all such plants in the country would achieve ultra-low emissions (with emission concentrations of dust, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides being no higher than 10, 35, and 50 milligrams per cubic meter respectively). Enerchemical Company carried out integrated upgrades for dust removal, denitration, and desulfurization on 3 coal-fired boilers, achieving ultra-low emissions of boiler flue gas and thus becoming one of the first companies in the western region to meet such standards. First is the renovation of the dust collector, involving the replacement of the original PPS circular filter bags with high-efficiency, energy-saving corrugated filter bags. After the modification, the filtration area of the filter bags increased by 87.5%, and they are more resistant to high temperatures with finer filtration pores. Second, the desulfurization tower is modified by adding spray layers, installing high-efficiency mist eliminators, increasing the height of the absorption tower, and adding ultrasonic desulfurization and dust removal devices. Third is the renovation of the denitration system: each boiler is equipped with an SCR denitration reactor, and acoustic soot blowers and steam soot blowers are installed at each layer of catalysts. After the renovation, the dust emission concentration was reduced from no more than 30 milligrams per cubic meter to no more than 10 milligrams per cubic meter ; The sulfur dioxide emission concentration has been reduced from no more than 100 milligrams per cubic meter to no more than 35 milligrams per cubic meter ; The nitrogen oxide emission concentration has been reduced from no more than 100 milligrams per cubic meter to no more than 50 milligrams per cubic meter. One boiler has an average gas treatment capacity of 500,000 milligrams per cubic meter, and operating for 8,000 hours per year, the three boilers together reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 975 tons, soot emissions by 300 tons, and nitrogen oxide emissions by 750 tons per year. The emission reduction effects are significant, laying a solid foundation for the development of the enterprise.
