Three **standards for coal used in the chemical industry**, developed with the participation of Shaanxi Coal Group, have been released. Recently, the three **standards** namely “Technical Guidelines for Coal Used in Coal Chemical Industry,” “Quality Requirements for Commercial Coal Used in Direct Liquefaction,” and “Quality Requirements for Commercial Coal Used in Fluidized Bed Gasification,” which were developed with the involvement of Shaanxi Coal Group, were approved for release and will come into effect on July 1, 2022. These three **standards were developed under the leadership of the Coal Science and Technology Research Institute**, with the participation of 10 relevant organizations including Energy Group, Shanxi Coal Group, and Lu’an Group. Once implemented, they will help enterprises quickly determine their product positioning, optimize their product structures in a timely manner, and adjust product quality as appropriate, thereby enabling precise marketing in the market for coal used as a chemical raw material and promoting the green transformation and clean, low-carbon development of the coal industry. Standard leadership is not only an important indicator for a company to inject vitality into high-quality development and engage in high-quality competition, but it also represents an advanced approach for companies to shift from a focus on quantity and scale to one focused on quality and efficiency. In recent years, Shaanxi Coal Group has built on the high-quality coal resources suitable for chemical manufacturing in northern Shaanxi, kept pace with the demand for raw coal from chemical industry users, and actively explored pathways for standardization, achieving remarkable results. Having experienced a \"golden decade\" and four years of tough times in the coal market, Shaanxi Coal Group has come to realize that the extensive expansion model of the coal industry is now a thing of the past, and the clean and efficient use of coal has become an important task in energy development. “Since the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Shaanxi Coal Group has actively implemented the requirements for supply-side structural reform. By making full use of the advantages of its coal from the Shenfu area – characterized by high calorific value and low impurities – the group has targeted the modern coal chemical industry, which features long industrial chains and high resource utilization efficiency. This approach has enabled a transformation of its coal products from being used solely as fuel to also serving as raw materials. As a specialized sales company in the Shenfu region under Shaanxi Coal Group, Yulin Sales Company leverages the quality advantages of its three key mines, under the proper guidance of the Transportation and Marketing Group, to focus on the efficient and clean utilization of coal. Strengthen coal quality management to improve the quality of commercial coal; in 2021, the average quality of iron-making, chemical, and other types of coal produced by the three main mines was above 5,800 kcal/kg ； Assisted the mining company in building its brand; the mixed coal brands \"Hongliulin\", \"Ningtiaota\" and \"Zhangjiamao\" were successively certified by the Shaanxi Provincial Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau and awarded the title of \"Famous Brand Products of Shaanxi Province\" ； Efforts are being made to adjust the product and customer structure, increasing the proportion of coal used in chemical applications; by 2018, the proportion of coal used for such purposes at the Ningtiaotawa mine had reached 100%. How can coal achieve \"assembly line production\" just like other industrial products? To produce standardized products, product standards must be established first. In 2018, under the leadership of Shaanxi Coal Transportation and Marketing Group, Yulin Sales Company took the lead in launching the \"Application and Research of Chemical Industry Coal in Northern Shaanxi by Shaanxi Coal Group\" project, proposing for the first time the establishment of its own standards for coal intended for use in the chemical industry by Shaanxi Coal Group. Based on corporate surveys conducted among mining plants, chemical industry users, and manufacturers of coal chemical furnaces, as well as an understanding of available resources and user needs, Shaanxi Coal Group established three corporate standards, including one for \"Coal for Water-Coal Slurry Gasification,\" which laid a solid foundation for the drafting and development of further standards. The successful introduction of these three standards represents a successful effort by Shaanxi Coal Group to implement strategies aimed at strengthening quality and standardization within the company. It is also an example of Shaanxi Coal Group’s efforts in terms of energy conservation, emission reduction, and green transformation. These standards fill a gap in Shaanxi Coal Group’s involvement in the development of standards related to coal, providing strong support for the company in using a common language related to coal.
