The 7,500 t/a carbon dioxide capture demonstration project for coke oven flue gas at the Xingtai plant of Xuyang Group was officially put into operation. Author/Source: Coal Chemicals Journal. Date: March 16, 2022. Clicks: 15. At 10:50 a.m. on March 10, the motor of the project’s induced draft fan was started; 11:00, the flue gas inlet valve of the coke oven is opened ; 13:38 – Official product launch ; At 16:00, the first sample was taken for testing; the dry basis content of carbon dioxide in the product gas was 99.62%, which is higher than the design target of 98.5% for the capture section. After purification, the volume fraction of high-purity carbon dioxide can reach 99.99%, which exceeds the standard specified in the national standard GB 10621-2006 \"Food Additives – Liquid Carbon Dioxide\" for use in frozen foods, beverages, and flavorings, where the required volume fraction of carbon dioxide is ≥99.9%. It can therefore be widely utilized in various fields such as gas fertilizers, refrigerants, industrial raw materials, and food applications. The carbon dioxide capture demonstration project of Xuyang Group employs a chemical absorption process for capture and a cryogenic separation process for purification; it is capable of capturing 7,500 tons of carbon dioxide per year. The purified carbon dioxide can be used to produce biodegradable plastics, thereby turning waste into a valuable resource. This not only helps to extend the industrial chain within the park and increase the added value of products, but it also enables companies to reduce their carbon emission tax costs in the future. It further promotes carbon credit trading, bringing significant environmental and economic benefits. At the same time, as an open platform for industry, academia, and research, the project will continue to enhance enterprises’ technical capabilities in the field of green energy, stimulate their innovation drive, raise the technological level of the industry, and play a positive role in further promoting the transformation and upgrading of enterprises and industries.
