Progress of the Coal Chemical Industry Project at Yulin Chemical, Shaanxi Coal Group / Author/Source: Huahua Net Coal Chemicals / Date: 2022-03-29 / Clicks: 13 On March 23, the Public Auxiliary Projects Department of Yulin Chemical Company, Shaanxi Coal Group, organized a meeting for the intermediate handover and acceptance of the demineralized water station. The successful holding of this CCCC acceptance meeting marks the transition of the desalinated water plant from the construction phase to the trial production phase, laying a solid foundation for the early commissioning of the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol project. Next, the project team will unite as one and focus on strict management, ensuring the safe, stable, continuous, full-capacity, environmentally sound, and optimal operation of the equipment with a high sense of responsibility, thereby providing water supply support for the project’s trial production. It is reported that the desalinated water station covers a total area of 11,985 m2. Designed to produce 6,100 m3/h of desalinated water, it serves as an auxiliary facility for the first-phase ethylene glycol production project with an annual capacity of 1.8 million tons. Its main function is to supply qualified desalinated water to the process units and auxiliary facilities, as well as to handle and recycle the turbine condensate and process condensate. Construction of the desalinated water station began on July 2, 2020, and qualified desalinated water was produced on April 6, 2021; the project was completed in its entirety after 20 months. Additionally, on March 26, the hydrostatic test of Boiler No. 1 in the power station unit of the Air Separation and Heat Power Department was completed successfully, marking the finish of the installation of Boiler No. 1 as well as the welding and sealing work on its heating surface systems. Thus, all 5 boilers in the company’s power station units have now undergone successful hydrostatic tests. The overall hydrostatic test of the boiler was conducted at 1.25 times the designed pressure of the boiler drum, covering the economizer system, the pipes connecting to the economizer outlet, the water wall, the boiler drum, the ceiling superheater, the encircling wall superheater, the screen superheater, the pipes connecting to the outlet of the final stage superheater up to the hydraulic block valve, as well as the pipeline systems within that range. To ensure the successful completion of this boiler hydrostatic test, the project team and the construction contractor planned in advance, carefully formulated a plan for the hydrostatic test of Boiler No. 1, and invited an expert team from the Shaanxi Electric Power Construction Project Quality Supervision Center to the company to inspect and guide the preparatory work prior to the hydrostatic test of Boiler No. 1, as well as to examine the installation of the boiler itself and the relevant documentation. Next, the project team will develop a detailed work plan, strengthen process control, and efficiently carry out subsequent tasks such as boiler pickling and tube blowing, to lay a solid foundation for the timely commissioning of the boiler. The 15 million tons per year demonstration project for the clean and efficient conversion of coal into various products, operated by Shaanxi Coal Group Yulin Chemical Co., Ltd., is located in the Qingshui Coal Chemistry Industrial Park within the Yulin Yushen Industrial Park. The investment in this project amounts to 26.2 billion yuan, and it will be constructed in two phases and four stages. Phase 1 of the project is divided into two stages: Stage 1 involves the construction of an ethylene glycol plant with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tons. The site area for this phase is approximately 4.4 million square meters, and the total investment required is around 26.5 billion yuan. It is currently the largest coal-based ethylene glycol production facility under construction in the world. In the second phase, projects for the production of 5.6 million tons per year of methanol, 2 million tons per year of olefins, and for further processing will be carried out. Phase II of the project focuses on coal pyrolysis and is also divided into two stages. The first stage involves an industrial demonstration facility for the pyrolysis of 1.2 million tons per year of pulverized coal and the deep processing of 500,000 tons per year of coal tar. In the second stage, the scale of pyrolysis is increased to 15 million tons, and the coal tar industry chain is expanded to produce downstream products derived from aromatics and arylenes.
