Gansu Huating Coal Industry launches a new project! Author/Source: Coal Chemical Industry Information Network Date: 2022-04-08 Clicks: 23 Huating Coal Industry’s project to process 600,000 tons of methanol annually to produce 200,000 tons of polypropylene is China’s first technological demonstration project for producing polypropylene from methanol using a fluidized bed process. At the end of 2021, the plant was put into operation and the newly built boiler was started successfully; on January 17, 2022, qualified polypropylene products were produced. Once the project is put into operation, it will be able to produce 160,000 tons of polypropylene, 8,000 tons of fuel gas, 21,000 tons of propane, 14,000 tons of gasoline, 19,000 tons of liquefied gas, and 28,000 tons of methyl tert-butyl ether per year. The new projects launched focus primarily on the further transformation and reuse of polypropylene, and are divided into three segments: high-value modification of 160,000 tons per year of polypropylene, offline modification of 50,000 tons per year of polypropylene, and manufacturing of end products made from polypropylene at a rate of 20,000 tons per year. At present, the construction site of the high-value polypropylene industrial park in Huating City’s industrial park, which has an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons, is bustling with activity.
