The energy-saving renovation for raising the temperature of the circulating water in Phase 1 of the Thermal Power Plant of Sino-Singapore Chemicals was completed successfully. Author/Source: Sino-Singapore Chemicals; Date: 2022-05-13; Clicks: 9. Based on past records of the circulating water operation, during the hot summer months, the maximum temperature of the circulating water supply reached 39°C. Despite increasing the number of circulation pumps, raising the volume of circulating water, and adding supplementary water from deep wells, there was no significant change in the temperature of the circulating water supply. This situation prevented the subsequent system devices from operating at full capacity during the hot summer conditions, resulting in substantial economic losses and safety risks. On May 2, in accordance with the summer measures to address high temperatures in the circulating water system, work began to connect bypass No. 3 of the first-phase circulating water system to the pipeline on top of cooling tower No. 5 of the second-phase circulating water system, by laying DN800 pipelines. The return water from the first-stage circulating water can have its temperature further reduced by the fan of the No. 5 cooling tower in the second-stage circulating water system. Secondly, the operating power of the fan in the first-phase circulating water cooling tower is 161 Kw/h; during winter operation, at least one cooling tower fan can be turned off. Based on a three-month winter operation period, this can result in energy cost savings of 263,900 yuan. At the same time, it reduces the water loss from this cooling fan by 47.6 m3/h; calculated at a cost of 1.88 yuan per ton of raw water, this results in savings of approximately 257,700 yuan in raw water costs. At 10 a.m. on May 9, it was successfully tested and put into operation.
