Progress on the Construction of Yushen Energy Chemical’s 500,000 tons/year coal-based ethanol project by Yan’an Petroleum. Author/Source: Chemical Industry Network – Coal Chemicals. Date: May 26, 2022. Clicks: 22. At 16:10 on the afternoon of May 23, after completing a series of preliminary preparations, the first motor in the gasification unit of Yushen Energy Chemical’s 500,000 tons/year coal-based ethanol project was started up. After two hours of testing of this individual motor, it operated smoothly, marking the official entry of this unit into the stage of individual equipment testing. The individual test run of the motor is an important step in the commissioning of this facility. A successful test run of the motor provides a crucial guarantee for the subsequent joint testing and operation of the equipment, ensuring that the facility can operate safely, stably, continuously, at full capacity, and optimally once it is put into use. On May 23, a full-ball test was conducted on the pulverized coal pipeline of the gasification unit, with witness verification and acceptance carried out jointly by the gasification workshop along with various departments such as those responsible for aerospace engineering, supervision, and construction. The ball passing test for coal dust pipelines involves using steel balls with a diameter of at least 42 mm to pass through pipes with dimensions of φ72*14. This test is used to determine whether the pipeline has been installed properly and whether its inner wall is smooth ; The design requires that all fittings in the coal dust pipeline undergo a ball testing procedure before installation, and an overall ball testing is carried out after installation is complete; the test conducted this time is the overall test performed after installation is finished. The ball passing test for the coal ash pipeline represents a re-inspection of the key installation points. Through this test, it is possible to verify whether the interior of the pipeline is smooth and unobstructed, and it can also help identify any quality issues that may have arisen during pipeline installation. This ensures the safe and stable transportation of coal ash through the pipeline in the pilot production phase of the gasification unit. On May 18, the dispatching room of the Yushen 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project’s central control building was put into use, marking the official operation of the project’s production dispatch center. The center covers an area of about 160 square meters and is currently equipped with an advanced global DCS control system, a dispatch telephone control system, and a video surveillance system. The plan also includes adding a set of LED video walls, a set of electronic large-screen displays, three units for operating the global DCS control system, and a set of dispatch telephone control systems. It integrates multiple functions such as production scheduling, emergency command, video surveillance, remote supervision, and comprehensive management, enabling resource sharing and information exchange. The Yushen 500,000 tons per year coal-based ethanol project is currently the largest project in the industrialization of coal-based ethanol technology. With a total investment of 6.98 billion yuan, it is located in the South Area of Qingshui Industrial Park within the Yushen Industrial Park in Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. The project covers an area of 1,365 mu, and it utilizes the coal-to-ethanol technology developed jointly by Yanchang Petroleum and Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, which holds independent intellectual property rights. The project is scheduled to be fully completed on May 30, 2022. The construction scope includes a methanol complex (devices such as coal unloading and storage facilities, gasification units, shift conversion units, purification units, gas separation units, methanol production units, and sulfur treatment units), an ethanol plant (units including dimethyl ether production, carbonylation processes, hydrogenation units, separation systems, compression equipment, heating furnaces, and refrigeration stations), as well as new construction for utility systems and auxiliary facilities; the design capacity is 1.22 million tons of coal to be converted per year. Beijing Petrochemical Engineering Co., Ltd. (Beiyou Engineering) has been awarded a total EPC contract value of 3.78 billion yuan, covering auxiliary facilities and plant-wide system projects, as well as process units and water treatment systems; it is also responsible for providing overall project management services for this project. As the EPC general contractor for the gasification unit of this project, Aerospace Engineering Company signed a general contract with Yushen Energy Chemical Company worth 590 million yuan; the project utilizes two 2,000-ton-class aerospace furnaces.
