On the evening of July 6, with the final remote shut-off valve for one of the methanol storage tanks being tested and installed, the renovation project to add such valves to those tanks was brought to completion, 8 days earlier than planned. It is understood that the addition of remote shut-off valves is an important measure taken by the storage and transportation center to meet the requirements of the company’s 100-day safety and environmental protection improvement initiative. Its purpose is to allow for the rapid remote closure of these valves in the event of leaks or fires, thereby effectively protecting the safety of storage tank equipment and the workers involved. The center acted swiftly and proactively, engaging closely with design institutes, electrical and instrumentation teams, as well as construction firms. After conducting on-site inspections and evaluations, it developed a technical modification plan, proceeded with material procurement, and upon the arrival of the materials, coordinated the lifting of the shut-off valves. Through close cooperation among all parties and relentless efforts, including working overtime, the project to install remote shut-off valves in 3 methanol tanks with a capacity of 20,000 m3 each was completed in just 3 days. Next, the storage and transportation center will continue to carry out hazard identification and mitigation efforts, strengthen team safety initiatives, and comprehensively improve the center’s safety management standards.
