Yan’an Petrochemical Overcomes Challenges in Coal Mill Operation Author/Source: Sinochem News Network Date: 2022-10-17 Clicks: 17 Recently, it was learned from the completion meeting for Yan’an Petrochemical Plant’s “task assignment” project that this project, focused on the issue of frequent failures in the coal mills and seal fans used in light hydrocarbon coal-fired boilers, was successfully completed. After targeted modifications, the problem that had long hindered the stable operation of the device was effectively resolved. Since the commissioning of the light hydrocarbon boiler system, the coal mills have been experiencing frequent failures that prevent them from operating continuously. During the switching over to the backup low-pressure seal fan, the air pressure drops below the trip differential pressure setting of the coal mills, preventing the backup fan from fulfilling its role; this hinders the steady operation of the coal mills over extended periods and fails to meet the requirements of normal production. To this end, last April the plant launched a “task assignment” project titled “Frequent Failures of Coal Mills and Seal Fans in Light Hydrocarbon Coal-Fired Boilers”. The task force addresses the \"chronic problems\" in equipment operation by holding regular meetings to analyze long-term equipment performance and special care management strategies, adopting a \"doctor+nurse\" management approach, and conducting on-site inspections of coal grinding machine usage at companies in the same industry. Based on the actual operating conditions of the Yanhua coal grinder, team members successively installed iron removers in the coal feeding section of the grinder, thickened the wear-resistant layer of the grinder’s grinding rollers, improved the material used for these wear-resistant layers, and replaced the loading springs, all in order to extend its service life and reduce the frequency of maintenance. Through various modifications, the coal grinder operated from December 2021 to June 2022, achieving the goal of running continuously for over 6 months. “In addition, based on factors such as the stable wind pressure and flow rate required for the boiler to operate properly, we installed an additional high-pressure seal fan that can meet the production demands, on top of the existing low-pressure seal fan, while also modifying the low-pressure seal fan. It not only meets the production requirements but also ensures backup conditions. ”Liu Qi, manager of the Mobile Equipment Department, explained.
