Successful commissioning of Dongjing’s 280,000-ton BDO production line! Author/Source: BDO Research Institute Date: 2022-11-14 Clicks: 20 Recently, the production project of 280,000 tons per year of 1,4-butanediol (BDO) at Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., located in Wuda Industrial Park in Wuhai City, was successfully commissioned. With a total investment of 2.94 billion yuan, the project commenced construction in May 2021. Once it is fully operational, together with the 100,000-tonne production capacity that was already in use, Dongyuan Technology will have an annual BDO production capacity of 380,000 tonnes, making it the largest integrated production base in China for BDO and its downstream processed products. It is not only of great significance for the industrial transformation and upgrading in the Wuhai area, but it will also help the region achieve its goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inner Mongolia Dongyuan Technology Co., Ltd., which is the only enterprise in Inner Mongolia to have established and started operations in the production of BDO – the upstream raw material for biodegradable plastics. “Our company produces BDO using the alkyne aldehyde process, which relies on acetylene as a raw material, by introducing the world’s leading BDO production technology from BDO. BDO is an important raw material for organic and fine chemical industries. It is non-toxic, harmless, and odorless, and is widely used in fields such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, textiles, papermaking, the automotive industry, and consumer chemicals; for this reason, it is also known as a chemical masterbatch. BDO can be further processed to produce biodegradable plastics, and it is also an important raw material for lithium batteries and high-grade aerospace products; it is a **green chemical product that is encouraged.
