With the pouring of the final batch of concrete, the flashing frame of the gasification unit in Hubei Yihua Group Co., Ltd.’s 550,000-ton ammonia and alcohol project was completed; this marks another building component that has been finished, following the completion of the air separation unit. The flash tank framework of the gasification unit in this project covers an area of 1517.76 m². The function of this flash tank is to carry out flash evaporation and sedimentation of the black water generated in the gasification stage, thereby enabling heat recovery and reuse. The fine residues present in this black water are dehydrated using a plate and frame filter press before being transported for environmental treatment, thus ensuring the overall environmental sustainability of the unit. Hubei Yihua Group, with Hubei Xinyi Chemical Co., Ltd. as the project entity, has invested 356.8 billion yuan to build a retrofit, relocation, and upgrading project for clean coal pressurized gasification combined production (a project with an annual capacity of 550,000 tons of ammonia and alcohol) in the Tianjiahe area of the Yaojiagang Chemical Park in Yichang City. The project utilizes German Mannesmann steam-driven air separation, multi-nozzle water-coal slurry pressurized gasification, isothermal shift, Swiss Cassali ammonia synthesis, and low-pressure methanol technologies. The main products of this project are 460,000 tons per year of liquid ammonia and 90,000 tons per year of methanol, with approximately 20,000 tons per year of sulfuric acid produced as a by-product.
