The catalyst loading process for the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol production facility at Shaanxi Coal Yulin Chemical has been successfully completed. As the core component of an ethylene glycol production plant, the catalyst plays a decisive role in subsequent feeding processes and the operation of the facility. Recently, the catalyst loading for the 30 reactors in the company’s 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol plant was completed within 90 days, and the project passed the acceptance inspection successfully. It is reported that this loading operation involved 9 sets of DMO synthesis reactors and 6 sets of EG synthesis towers, resulting in the installation of 415,254 tubes of catalysts in total. In total, 808 tons of catalyst were loaded into the DMO synthesis reactor, and 651.6 tons of catalyst were loaded into the EG synthesis tower. Meanwhile, both the height measurement of the space and the detection of tube bundle resistance were carried out under the joint supervision of the process package manufacturer, the main design contractor, and the project team, with 100% compliance achieved in both cases. The successful completion of this catalyst loading process has laid a solid foundation for the 1.8 million tons per year ethylene glycol plant to operate in a stable, efficient, and optimal manner.
