On November 30, the People’s Government of Handan City signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Remote New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group to accelerate the development of Handan’s methanol-based economic industry chain as well as its green and low-carbon transportation systems, thereby creating a green, low-carbon commercial vehicle ecosystem based on methanol and hydrogen. It is reported that methanol is a coal-based clean fuel, as well as the lowest-cost and safest carrier for hydrogen; it solves the problems associated with storing and transporting hydrogen, offers good safety features, and has low transportation costs. In 2019, **eight ministries and commissions issued a joint statement to support the widespread adoption of methanol-powered vehicles. Handan is a **comprehensive transportation hub city**, known as the \"Steel City\" and the \"Coal Capital\". It is also an old industrial base that is given priority in development efforts. Developing the methanol economy represents a strategy for Handan that takes into account its geographical advantages, energy resources, and industrial characteristics, thereby meeting its future development needs. Working together with Handan to develop a regional methanol ecosystem will also serve as an important support for Chunhui Technology, under the Remote New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group, in establishing green methanol transportation ecosystems in regions such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Henan, and Shandong. Remote New Energy Commercial Vehicles Group stated that it will go ahead and contribute to increasing the market penetration of new energy and clean energy commercial vehicles in Handan, thereby fostering the development of enterprises involved in methanol production, refueling, and logistics transportation along the regional industrial chain, with the aim of creating an innovative pilot zone for the methanol economy based on this \"liquid sunlight\" resource.
