The thickness of the cable

In the chemical plant, I saw very thick cables on the pipe racks; visually, their cross-section was roughly similar to that of a plate. Why are these cables so thick, and in what applications are they used? Could you please explain what the principle is? It would be best if it could be illustrated using formulas showing the relationships between Q, P, U, I, and R
I guess it must be hollow since it’s that thick
What size plate? Plate sizes also vary; the small plates used for dipping sauces on the dining table are not the same size as the large plates used for fish head pancakes. Probably all the plates you’ve seen are large.
Just tell me what the outer diameter of the cable is; even with cable reels, even the smallest ones, there are no cables of any voltage level that have such a diameter
