How are the colors of the electrical operation indicator/light and stop indicator light defined in chemical plants? I see that some use red to indicate operation, while others use green to indicate operation
In our company, a green light for low voltage indicates operation, while a red light indicates shutdown. In the high-pressure section, green indicates stop, and red indicates operation.
In a chemical plant, the electrical system operates when the red light is on and stops when the green light is on； The red button stops the machine, while the green button starts it.
For electrical systems and instruments, it’s the opposite: a red light on the electrical panel indicates operation, while a green light indicates shutdown； Generally, on instruments and DCS screens, a green light indicates operation while a red light indicates shutdown.
A red indicator light indicates that there is power and the device is operating. Green means stop. For the buttons, start and closing are green, while stop and opening are red.
