With newly installed media in gravity-type valveless filters, there is always minor backwashing

Hello everyone, this is a gravity-type valveless filter. We have just replaced the packing, but it keeps undergoing automatic minor backwashing during operation. The amount of water used for backwashing is small and the duration is short, yet the intervals between such backwash cycles are very brief. If anyone has experience, could they please explain what causes this? I would be extremely grateful.
After updating the filler, more small particles are generated due to the friction from the new material, which causes continuous automatic minor backwashing. I recommend performing backwashing for about 24 to 36 hours in a row. Remember to use clean water (using a 1-inch hose will help prevent excessive water waste). This will help to slightly smooth out the irregular edges of the new sand, thereby avoiding constant automatic minor backwashing
