How to calculate the discharge volume of a safety valve during surge pressure

It’s my first time doing calculations for the discharge volume of safety valves; I’ve looked up some information, but I still have no idea how to proceed. I have the leakage rate provided by the patent holder, but I don’t know how it was obtained. Here are a few typical examples: 1. When gas from the high-pressure cold section leaks over to the low-pressure cold section, if there is no liquid in the high-pressure cold section tank, the gas flows back from the high-pressure tank to the low-pressure tank. Yet the gas at the top of the high-pressure tank still moves toward the recycle hydrogen compressor. So how can the leakage volume from the low-pressure cold section be accounted for? 2. Hot, high-pressure gas is injected into the water tank for flushing; if the tank runs out of water, will the hot, high-pressure gas flow back into the tank and be released through the safety valve on the top of the tank? If so, how can the amount of gas released be calculated? A check valve behind the pump should reduce the amount of gas that leaks back; what about if there are two check valves? A similar situation occurs when the high-pressure feed pump stops; if hydrogen mixing takes place before it enters the reactor, could the high-pressure hydrogen flow back? 3. For the feed buffer tank, when using nitrogen to maintain pressure, should it be taken into account that if the nitrogen valve is fully open while the valve leading to the flare is closed, nitrogen will be released through the safety valve? How should the amount of release be calculated?
