I have been assigned by my company to work at a design institute, mainly focusing on the study of purification devices. How should I start working on the study of purification devices at this design institute? ?

Is your company a design firm? Why send you to the design institute to learn *? If your own company builds a factory and uses the design drawings from a design institute to learn*, that’s fine~
The purification system part of our project was designed by this design institute; I was assigned to work here on this task, focusing mainly on aspects related to purification. Now the overall design is nearing completion – it involves going through various documents, such as PDF flowcharts, without delving too deeply into the details
The core lies in the processing techniques; it mainly involves learning about the processing procedures and related instructions. It would be even better if one can master calculations such as material balance and heat balance. Next are equipment layout and piping. In fact, many chemical processes can be understood logically; if you master this purification technology, your skills will improve significantly
