A simple explanation of the chemical industry is that it involves mixing various substances on an industrial scale. Various situations can arise during this mixing process. For those working in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance – fields that are closely related to production – it is no longer sufficient to focus solely on their own areas of expertise if they want to keep up with developments. To become skilled instrument technicians or maintenance workers, one must have a thorough understanding of the manufacturing processes; otherwise, many tasks cannot be completed effectively. Improving the mindset of these maintenance professionals regarding process knowledge, as well as enhancing communication and cooperation with process engineers, has also become part of their responsibilities. Process engineers are often the first to notice equipment failures at the site, so we need to not only learn about the equipment itself but also understand the principles behind the manufacturing processes.
Instruments are closely related to the manufacturing process. If instrument technicians do not understand this process, they may end up following the instructions given by those in charge of the process. Sometimes, parameter fluctuations are caused by issues within the process itself, but the people in charge of the process claim that it’s the instruments that are inaccurate. Such situations occur frequently in actual production.
