Cleaning issues of multi-stage pressure-reducing labyrinth sleeve valves

Our factory has multi-stage pressure-reducing labyrinth sleeve valves, and we noticed problems with their flow capacity. Upon disassembly, it was found that the internal labyrinth sleeve was blocked by dirt, which caused the valve to get clogged. We cleaned it with water and also blew it out with compressed air, but some of the dirt couldn’t be removed completely; it seems there is still a risk of blockage. Therefore, we would like to ask experienced technicians: how is this type of valve usually dealt with?
Previously, at a workplace I saw the technicians disassemble those labyrinth valves during major maintenance, using fine sandpaper to remove dirt and polishing them until they became extremely shiny
