During normal production, a blockage was found at the slag outlet of the gasifier; what points should be particularly noted when melting the slag? What is the safest way to proceed?
When there is poor slag discharge, the oxygen-coal ratio should be adjusted promptly to raise the furnace temperature and facilitate the slow melting of the slag. This process cannot be rushed, and oxygen addition must strictly follow the principle of adding small amounts multiple times to prevent the slag outlet from narrowing again, as the amount of slag increases at that time. At the same time, pay attention to the trend of furnace temperature changes. If this is detected in a timely manner, increasing the oxygen-coal ratio can usually restore normal conditions within 8 hours. Once the slag outlet returns to normal and the gas composition stabilizes, the oxygen-coal ratio can be reduced slightly, and after observing for a few more hours to ensure there are no signs of recurrence, operations can be resumed at normal temperatures.
Personally, I feel that it’s better to start by administering central oxygen in practical applications.
First, carry out the load-reduction operation, followed by temperature increase and slag removal; the entire process must be carried out slowly. At the same time, pay close attention to changes in the pressure difference at the slag outlet, and stop the operation if necessary.
When it is found that the slag outlet is blocked, in order to melt the slag, first reduce the load; when raising the temperature, do so gradually and multiple times, as raising the temperature too quickly will produce a large amount of slag, which will cause the slag outlet to become even more blocked. Another method that can be used when the slag outlet is blocked is slag removal, but removing too much slag is also not good.
