First, the methanol-water separation tower does indeed achieve the separation of methanol from water, and high-purity methanol is obtained at the top of the tower. However, the feed materials entering the methanol-water separation tower are actually a sprayed methanol-water solution and recycled methanol from the methanol regeneration tower. The design capacity of the methanol-water separation tower is not sufficient to ensure a low water content in the relatively large flow rate of recycled methanol; this recycled methanol does not enter the methanol-water separation tower directly. Especially during the startup of the plant, it is crucial for the regeneration tower to control the water content in the recycled methanol. Secondly, the level of water content is relative; under normal operating conditions, the water content (on a mass basis) on both sides of the partition is 0.3% and 0.27% respectively. The water content on the reboiler side is slightly higher, but it still meets the requirements for the methanol absorbent. Therefore, there is no conflict regarding the exchange of methanol between the two chambers. What was said on the 9th floor about the fouling of the solution on the reboiler side is correct, as the solid phase in that solution is relatively enclosed, and it is necessary to draw some methanol from the bottom of the tower and send it to the filter. Meanwhile, a portion of the circulating methanol drawn from the other chamber enters the reboiler ; Another portion passes through the filter and is sent to the circulating methanol pipeline for use in circulation. These two pipelines actually connect the chambers on either side of the partition; by adjusting the flow rates in these two pipelines, it is possible to keep both chambers clean and to maintain the appropriate water content in the circulating methanol.
