In piping systems, exhaust vents are required at the high points, while drain vents are needed at the low points. However, exhaust and drainage can be categorized as regular exhaust and drainage, or exhaust and drainage during hydrostatic testing. How is the difference between these two situations determined? For a given point, how can I decide which type of vent to use? Are there any fixed rules regarding this?
The hydrostatic test is done once, and after it’s completed the area is welded shut. If the location is to be kept clean and empty, and such operations are carried out frequently, it certainly can’t be welded shut; a plug is used at the end, usually threaded, to seal it off, with it being removed when needed. Is it a mandatory requirement? Are there any provisions regarding pressure testing in the specifications for metal pipe installation? You’re referring to the material aspects, right? Under what circumstances should each type of drainage method be used? There seem to be many of these specifications.
Under what circumstances should which form of draining and cleaning be chosen? There seem to be many regulations like this, and I’m not sure about them; in particular, I’m not clear about when disposable items should be used – I always think that valves should be used in all cases
I can’t answer that for you, as I’m not involved in this area; there are indeed many forms of cleaning. But it must be related to the medium; something toxic or similar. It definitely can’t be placed casually – it needs to be in a sealed system, and leaks must be prevented. Some have low requirements, so they can be placed anywhere
