In our purification tower, these past few days the content of high-molecular-weight components in the feed has increased; as a result, a large amount of material with high boiling points was discharged during operation. Meanwhile, the reflux rate and pressure difference failed to increase for several days, and it was worrying to see that there was no liquid layer left on the sieve plates! May I ask everyone, what methods are there to maintain reflux and pressure difference, as well as other parameters, and to ensure the stability of the tower and the quality of the product, when the content of certain components in the feed increases?
I don’t know to what extent your reconstituted mixture is heavy; the absence of a liquid layer on the tray indicates that the material cannot be vaporized. I suggest increasing the vacuum level; reducing the saturated vapor pressure will do.
Based on the poster’s description, it seems that there are basically no light components in your feed. You can see that the pressure difference across your tower is no longer present. This indicates either a low liquid level on the tray levels, or the presence of heavy components at the top of the tower; it is only in this case that the pressures at the top and bottom of the tower become similar. It is recommended that the poster pay more attention to the feed coming in; preprocessing is necessary when required
Increase the bottom temperature of the tower and raise the reflux ratio.
Identifying the material properties can increase the bottom temperature of the tower, boost the discharge from the bottom of the tower, raise the reflux rate at the top of the tower, and enable vacuum extraction at the top.
