Previously, the company collected hot water and supplied it to other companies. Now, this company needs hot water due to improvements in its manufacturing processes, and our company no longer has a place to use that hot water. We have a heat transfer oil steam generation unit, and we are considering using hot water to produce low-pressure saturated steam. I’m not sure whether this is cost-effective. Could everyone help me do the calculations? Relevant parameters: Hot water temperature: 95 degrees; flow rate: 10 m3/h; motor power: 15 KW; electricity cost: 0.68 yuan/kWh; price of hot water: 10.5 yuan/t. Steam: Low-pressure steam at 0.5 MPa; steam temperature: 158 degrees; heat value: 2760.36 KJ/kg; price of steam: 190 yuan/t. Coal: Calorific value of 5500 kcal; price: 950 yuan/t. The heat transfer oil steam generator is likely to be of the tubular type; however, I’m not aware of the costs related to equipment depreciation and maintenance. Please help me with the calculations
It’s definitely cost-effective; at least 95 degrees of sensible heat can be utilized, which saves a lot of coal – at least 10% less coal consumption.
I’m not sure what the original poster means – is it to apply that 95-degree water temperature to the heat transfer oil? It’s definitely cost-effective if it’s used in the water that generates steam for heat transfer oil
