A molecular sieve catalyst is a catalyst made from molecular sieves. As for what molecular sieves are, you can read books on the subject separately – it’s not something that can be explained in just a few words. Catalysts can be classified by their application or by their composition, depending on your needs.

I think what you are referring to is the molecular sieve in the PSA adsorption tower of hydrogen production units; this molecular sieve is a highly polar adsorbent. We know that in hydrogen production units, CO is converted to CO2 to prevent a large amount of CO from entering the PSA unit. PSA has a limited capacity to adsorb CO, which is why a highly polar adsorbent, namely molecular sieve, is used. Used to adsorb components that are difficult to adsorb: CO, CH4, N, Ar, O2;

As a result, they can separate molecules with different degrees of polarity, saturation, size, and boiling points; in other words, they function as a means of \"sieving\" molecules, which is why they are called molecular sieves. Molecular sieves are widely used due to their advantages over other adsorbents, such as high adsorption capacity and strong thermal stability. It is mostly used as an adsorbent and is renewable.
