In mechanical seal flushing scheme 53C, what is the purpose of the pipeline that comes out from the bottom of the piston accumulator and connects to the flushing port of the inner mechanical seal? If it is used to flush the inner mechanical seal, where does the flushing fluid come from? Also, what is the principle of a piston accumulator? It is a pressure induction port. For the PLAN53C model used for mixing, its isolation fluid is enclosed and there is no circulation; its function is simply to ensure that the pressure in the sealed chamber remains higher than the pressure inside the tank, thereby preventing backpressure on the mechanical seal and avoiding seal failure

As described in API 682, what you are referring to is this clause: “The reference line from the seal chamber to a piston accumulator provides pressure to the circulation system.” In other words, it is the pipeline from the seal chamber to the piston accumulator that supplies pressure to the circulation system, rather than being used for flushing the seal chamber. 2. In a piston accumulator, there is no connection between the two ends of the piston; the high-pressure medium in the seal chamber is separated from the flushing fluid. In the 53C system, pressure from the seal chamber is simply transferred to the flushing fluid circulation system, which can be considered as a form of pressure compensation.
