How exactly is pressure taken from the Texaco gasifier pressure tap? If it is penetration through the brick joints, how is the pressure measurement tube arranged inside the furnace? Are there openings on the casting material? I kindly ask the experts to clarify this for me.
The pressure measurement tube is not located at the arch top but on the cylinder; the refractory material is only present at the arch top. The pressure measurement tube is used to determine the pressure difference by introducing a small amount of high-pressure nitrogen into the gasification furnace.
The role of nitrogen is just to purge and prevent blockages, right?
The function of high-pressure nitrogen is actually similar to that of the flushing water used in other pressure gauges: it helps to transmit pressure and prevent acidic gases from causing corrosion. As for preventing blockages, once slag forms, the pressure-taking holes on the furnace bricks get blocked; the furnace bricks themselves do not bear pressure – it is the outer wall of the gasification furnace that bears the pressure.
When our factory was manufacturing the furnace bricks, I went in to take a look, and there were no pressure tapping holes on those bricks at all; only four thermocouple holes were present. Pressure measurement in the vaporization furnace is carried out by taking readings through the gaps between the bricks!
