Can a swing check valve be installed on a pipeline where the material flows downward?
The working principle of the swing check valve is that it uses the up and down movement of the cylinder plug to assist the valve disc in opening and closing rapidly in order to achieve sealing at the interface; it can be installed on vertical pipes as well as on horizontal pipes

It cannot be installed on a pipe that runs from top to bottom, as it will then not be able to serve as a check valve. In other words, installing this valve on such a pipe is equivalent to keeping it in an open state all the time, which makes no sense at all

Generally, swing check valves are installed horizontally; if vertical installation is required, the flow of material must be from bottom to top.
For vertical pipes, piston-type check valves should be used as much as possible.
It cannot be used in scenarios where fluid flows from top to bottom, as in such cases the disc of the swing check valve will open automatically due to gravity, failing to serve its purpose as a check valve; this can be understood by looking at its internal structure.
The swing-type type is directional; if it does not meet the requirements, a wafer-type can be used (with springs installed inside)

I wonder if the original poster has thought about this: materials flow downward due to gravity, so reverse flow is almost impossible in such a situation. Why use a check valve? Also, for swing-type valves, horizontal pipes should be installed first; they can be used for vertical pipes as well, but in that case the flow is from bottom to top. Otherwise, the swing mechanism will lose its function.
