Foundation laid for Zhundong Coal Chemical’s 1 million ton methanol project June 21, 2012, 16:18 Sinochem News Network On June 20, the 500,000 tons per year coal tar lightening and 1 million tons per year methanol project developed by China Water & Xinjiang Changyuan Group was inaugurated in the Laojunmiao mining area of Mulei Kazakh Autonomous County in Xinjiang. The total investment in the Zhundong coal chemical project is 10.977 billion yuan, and it mainly includes hydrogen production facilities using waste gas, tar processing units, methanol production plants, asphalt processing facilities, as well as logistics and infrastructure. The project will be constructed in two phases, with each phase having a construction period of 18 months. Phase 1 is scheduled to come online at the beginning of 2014, while Phase 2 is expected to be completed in 2015
