Can a control valve be connected directly to an elbow? If so, what distance is required?
They can be connected directly; simply attach reducer fittings at both ends of the control valve. If it’s a flow meter, some of them don’t need to be connected directly; control valves are fine.
It can be connected; they came up to trick me into giving a reply. :) Personally, I think if there’s really not enough space, it would be better to add short connections to expand the flow channel. There’s no basis for it, haha
Elbows (reduce tees) before and after control valves in pipelines are widely used! Because, without affecting your process, the advantages of using a regulator valve that is one or two sizes smaller are as follows: 1. Better control precision (for example, with a pipeline of DN100, if the diameter isn’t changed, it’s difficult to control the regulator valve accurately, resulting in deviations in precision). 2. Better sealing when the valve is closed (for example, with a DN100 regulator valve, without taking into account the pressure difference before and after the valve, there may be a risk of leakage when it is closed)
Just connect them directly, but be careful: reducing sleeves and SO flanges cannot be welded directly together, while they can be welded with WN flanges!
