I’ve heard of 316L material; what is 317L material? What are the specific differences in its composition compared to 316L? I’m waiting for experts to answer.
317L stainless steel: 317L (00Cr19Ni13Mo3, UNS S31726) is an austenitic stainless steel based on molybdenum. Compared to conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as 304 alloy, it possesses greater resistance to chemical corrosion. Furthermore, compared to conventional stainless steel, the 317L alloy possesses higher ductility, resistance to stress corrosion, compressive strength, and high-temperature resistance. It is of the low-carbon grade or L grade, which possesses resistance to sensitization during welding and heat treatment processes. Compared to 316L, 317L steel exhibits better resistance to seawater and SCC, and is used in chemical ships, chemical product reactors, and other chemical equipment that requires high corrosion resistance. Mechanical properties of SUS317L: YS (Mpa) ≥ 176, TS (Mpa) ≥ 480, EL (%) ≥ 40, Hv ≤ 200. Chemical composition of SUS317L: Carbon (C) ≤ 0.030, Manganese (Mn) ≤ 2.00, Nickel (Ni) 11.0–15.0, Silicon (Si) ≤ 1.00, Phosphorus (P) ≤ 0.045, Sulfur (S) ≤ 0.030, Chromium (Cr) 18.0–20.0, Molybdenum (Mo) 3.0–4.0
