The key is to operate slowly and steadily; avoid shutting down the crude argon column when there is no need for a long-term shutdown of the argon system. Venting is sufficient, and shutting down the refined argon column has little impact on the main column.
If shutdown is necessary, measures such as improving the purity of the liquid level gauge in the main cooler, reducing the amount of crude argon fed to the main cooling pump, and decreasing the liquid output should be taken.

If purity of oxygen is the only concern, then making adjustments to the venting is the most straightforward approach. However, during the operation of the device, various types of consumption factors must also be taken into account. Therefore, during the process of stopping the argon supply, it is crucial to strictly control the reflux flow rate to the tower. It is also important to monitor the data from the on-line analyzers at relevant points as well as the temperature values. As long as these data remain stable, several rounds of experimental operation will help determine the optimal operating parameters for the specific conditions. So experience is very important.
