During the \"15th Five-Year Plan\" period, the Synthetic Oil Engineering Research Center of the Shanxi Coal Chemistry Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (now Zhongke Synthetic Oil Technology Co., Ltd.) completed an industrial pilot test for coal indirect liquefaction with a capacity of 2000 t/year, building on previous research work. In 2001, the pilot-scale verification of the synthesis technology for ICC-IA low-temperature catalysts was completed. In 2007, pilot-scale tests were conducted on the synthesis technology of ICC-II high-temperature catalysts. Two series of iron-based catalyst technologies were developed: ICC-I for low temperatures (230–270°C) and ICC-II for high temperatures (250–290°C), along with corresponding slurry bed reactor technologies. Two separate synthesis processes were established – the ICC-HFPT process for synthesizing heavy fractions using low-temperature catalysts, and the ICC-LFPT process for synthesizing light fractions using high-temperature catalysts.
