Expiry inspection for wound composite air cylinders used in air respirators

Since some users of air respirators are not familiar with the relevant regulations, they do not know where these respirators should be sent for testing, how often they need to be tested, or what qualifications are required to conduct such tests. Some people also say that the retesting cycle for certain gas cylinders is five years. I would like to provide answers to these questions. In accordance with the \"Regulations on the Safety Inspection of Gas Cylinders\" of the People’s Republic of China, ISO11623-2002 \"Periodic Inspection and Testing of Composite Gas Cylinders\", and GB 24161-2009 \"Periodic Inspection and Evaluation of Composite Gas Cylinders for Respirators\": it is prohibited to fill gas cylinders that have exceeded their periodic inspection deadline. The inspection cycle for gas cylinders is 3 years, and such inspections must be carried out by gas cylinder inspection agencies that hold the \"Approval Certificate for Special Equipment Inspection and Testing Institutions\" issued by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. If the gas cylinder is continued to be used without undergoing reinspection by the due date, the user shall bear all consequences. During the use of gas cylinders, if severe corrosion, damage is detected, or there are doubts regarding their safety, inspections should be carried out in advance. Cylinders that have been subjected to collisions, fire, or other damage should be taken out of service and tested in accordance with relevant standards and specifications. If fiber breakage, damage, or visible scratches are found, it should not be filled. Additionally, the claim that gas cylinders need to be inspected every five years is incorrect. Some older imported cylinders do have a marking indicating a five-year inspection cycle, but cylinders used in China must be re-inspected every three years (this applies only to wound composite cylinders used in air respirators; I’m not sure about the inspection interval for other types of cylinders). The relevant specifications can be referred to in the cylinder regulations.
