Could the forum add a section on natural gas treatment and processing?

As oil resources become depleted, many alternative energy industries have seen rapid development, such as coal chemistry and natural gas chemistry. However, discussions on natural gas are rarely seen in forums; could a dedicated section for it be added? This way, the sections of the forum will be more comprehensive. I’m currently at the Puguang Gas Purification Plant, the largest natural gas purification plant in Asia, and I hope to contribute something to the forum!
Oil will not run out in our lifetime. Natural gas, like coal and oil, is a basic raw material. If a segment dedicated to natural gas is created, half of its content will be related to oil, while another part will be related to coal chemical industry. Could the original poster come up with a more detailed plan for everyone to discuss, rather than just a simple topic?
Maybe I wasn’t specific enough! I mean, it relates to natural gas desulfurization and dehydration – mainly referring to cases with high H2S levels, such as the purification plants in Puguang, Sichuan. This is the gas processing plant in the world with the highest H2S content, and this represents a gap in our country. There are many special manufacturing processes.
The suggestions from above are excellent; I fully agree with them. However, there is a basic concept that needs to be brought to your attention: although the Puguang gas field is a very large gas field in China with a high sulfur content, its advantage lies in its scale (once all phases of development are completed). As for the sulfur content, the Tieshanpo and Dukouhe fields operated by CNPC are likely to exceed it (the exact figures are not yet known to me). Abroad, there is already experience in developing gas wells with sulfur contents of 70–95%. Therefore, China is still lagging behind in terms of technology related to natural gas with high sulfur content. In particular, as far as Sinopec is concerned, wasn’t the basic design package for the purification plants at Puguang provided by BV? The detailed design was carried out by SEI
I don’t think it’s necessary. Although the composition of natural gas differs significantly from that of coalbed methane, and it’s also very different from the composition of gas produced from coal, if we were to create another forum, it would be better to have a forum dedicated to gas processing that covers everything, including future developments such as combustible ice, so that everyone can discuss these topics together； It repeats when separated! Repetition and overlap in the forum are inevitable; there is no fundamental difference between the processing of natural gas and conventional gas desulfurization – it’s just that the scale is much larger. The processing steps after desulfurization are similar to those used in the production of olefins from shale gas or coal-derived gas. It is recommended to post it on the coal chemical industry forum, or create a gas treatment forum.
The processing of natural gas and coalbed methane shares many similar principles, but the practical implementation differs greatly. At present, China’s natural gas industry is experiencing rapid development, with numerous projects in this area, as well as an increasing number of institutions and professionals engaged in related design work. It can be said that its importance is now no less than that of coal chemical engineering; it has become an important part of the chemical industry as an independent sector. The level of development in this field within China is still quite uneven, with many areas still relying on foreign technology. I believe it is absolutely necessary to carry out discussions and exchanges on this technology in order to improve China’s overall technical capabilities
You are from the Puguang gas field; you communicated with SEI and the designers last year. I wonder how things are progressing with your project now? Please tell me more about it.
The site of the Purification Plant at the Puguang Gas Field has now been leveled, and the equipment installation phase has begun.
