On July 11, 2012, following the operation of Gasifiers No. 1 and No. 2 at the gasification plant of Datang Dolun Coal Chemical Company on July 4, Gasifier No. 3 was successfully brought online, marking the first time that all three Shell six-burner gasifiers operated simultaneously. Starting in mid-May 2012, the company carried out its first full plant shutdown for maintenance, which lasted over 40 days. Currently, each gasifier can process 2,870 tons of dried low-quality lignite per day. As of July 12, Gasifiers No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 were operating steadily at load rates of 80%, 60%, and 78% respectively, producing 580,000 standard cubic meters of syngas per hour. The methanol plant achieved a new record by producing over 1,000 tons of methanol per shift for the first time.
It seems that brown coal gasification might still be feasible after all. Does anyone know the detailed coal quality analysis and parameters related to gas production, so that those who intend to use Shell furnaces can gain a deeper understanding?
