Dear colleagues, regarding the crude ammonia gas generated from the wastewater stripping process in your plant and which is sent to the ammonia water tank for absorption – how can we prevent ammonia leaks while simultaneously improving the efficiency of ammonia absorption?
Ordinary crude ammonia gas from side streams is not used to produce ammonia water, as the efficiency of utilization is low; moreover, high concentrations of ammonia water can lead to the escape of ammonia gas, causing environmental pollution. A ammonia purification process can be designed to purify crude ammonia gas by removing sulfur, compress it into liquid ammonia, and thereby improve the economic efficiency of ammonia.
Generally, using water to absorb it and produce ammonia solution is cost-effective, but the downside is that high concentrations of ammonia can break through the water seal in the vent system, leading to air pollution. I recommend using a nitrogen seal to discharge the waste gases as acidic gases, provided that your sulfur production furnace is capable of burning ammonia. Although this approach increases the cost of the ammonia solution tanks, it will eliminate the presence of pungent and irritating ammonia fumes from the system
With the current unit, there is still an odor resulting from ammonia leaks; the new unit under construction includes ammonia purification, which should improve the situation. :)
Our ammonia tank is being upgraded with a chiller, as sewage stripping is an environmental protection project that generates no profit.
The ammonia concentration is generally controlled. . Regarding this issue. .
Under normal conditions, crude ammonia gas is further dehydrated and desulfurized before being fed into an ammonia compressor to produce liquid ammonia; ammonia water is only prepared in abnormal situations. During the preparation of ammonia water, it is necessary to switch between different ammonia water tanks, and once the ammonia water becomes saturated, ammonia gas can escape, leading to environmental pollution. Therefore, the timing for switching ammonia tanks must be determined based on the size of the ammonia tanks and the volume of raw ammonia gas
Connecting the ammonia tank vent to the overflow line of the raw water tank might work; it’s quite effective
