An increase in the reflux rate can lead to a higher purity of the distillation product; why then does an increase in the reflux rate in the dehydration unit result in a higher water content at the bottom of the tower?
Increasing the reflux rate within a certain range can improve the purity of the product at the top of the tower, but only up to a certain limit. Recycling cannot solve all problems. In the dehydration tower you mentioned, the water should be the light component, right? Too much reflux was used, pushing all the water to the bottom; of course, its bottom part doesn’t meet the standards.
