Our factory uses centrifugal pumps to transport a liquid containing AN sulfate crystals. How does the outlet pressure of the centrifugal pump change when the volume of these AN sulfate crystals in the liquid varies? For example: what is the impact of solid content levels of 10%, 50%, and 90% on the pump outlet pressure? ? ?
In a situation like yours, you should definitely not opt for a centrifugal pump to solve the problem; even with a high solid content, transporting the fluid can easily damage the pump, and it’s not just the outlet pressure that is an issue
I just want to know the effect of solid content on the outlet pressure of a centrifugal pump?
Generally, when the solid content is below 50%, the requirements for pumps are not high; for a solid content of 30%-50%, an open impeller is required and the power output needs to be increased appropriately; when the solid content exceeds 50%, other types of pumps need to be considered. The pump outlet pressure increases due to the solids present in the solution, which raises the density of the fluid being transported. The head values provided by the manufacturer refer to the head for clean water; the actual outlet pressure of the pump is obtained by multiplying the density of the fluid being transported by the pump’s head for clean water, and this value represents the actual outlet pressure of the pump. The material of the pump should be one with good wear resistance
