Longyan City, Fujian Holds Ceremony to Honor Achievements in Copper Industry Output Reaching 10 Billion 2012-08-02 14:38 Source: Longyan Economic and Trade Commission On the morning of July 31, the municipal party committee and government held a grand ceremony at the Longyan People’s Hall to celebrate the achievement of copper industry output reaching 10 billion yuan, as well as to present the first municipal quality awards. This event was aimed at recognizing advanced units, enterprises, and individuals who have contributed to the development of the copper industry and to the strategy of improving the city’s quality standards, thereby setting examples and guiding industrial development, and fostering an atmosphere of learning from those who excel, motivating efforts, and promoting progress. City leaders Huang Xiaoyan, Zhang Zhaomin, Chen Wanli, Yan Zhiming, Guo Shufan, Wen Xihao, Lai Jiqiu, and Li Zhankai held a meeting*. The conference honored 8 enterprises including Zijin Mining (Group) Co., Ltd. for their outstanding contributions to pushing the output value of the copper industry past 10 billion yuan, 12 organizations such as the Shanghang County Copper Industry Bureau, 28 outstanding workers including Wang Kuangjin, as well as 3 companies that won the “First (2011–2012) Longyan City ** Quality Award”, namely Fujian Longjing Environmental Protection Co., Ltd., Longyan Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd., and Longgong (Fujian) Machinery Co., Ltd. Longyan City began to develop its copper industry in 2003. In just 8 years, the copper industry has grown from nothing to something significant, evolving into a dynamic industry with a production value exceeding 10 billion yuan, a clear trend of concentration, and great potential for further development. Currently, there are 48 copper industry projects established in Shanghang, of which 20 have already started operations. Last year, the city’s copper industry generated output worth 11.8 billion yuan (of which 10.015 billion yuan came from Shanghang County).
