Regarding the welding of the tube sheet to the shell of the heat exchanger, whether to use flat welding or vertical welding is a question that arises. The process used back then was flat welding, but due to variations in the weld angles when using this method, when strict requirements were in place, the workshop opted for vertical welding instead, as it ensures consistent weld angle differences. I would like to ask how others handle this issue
It depends on the size of the heat exchanger; if its length is 3–4 meters or less, we use vertical welding. If it’s too long, we consider the safety aspects related to lifting, and in that case we use horizontal welding. However, automatic welding machines are now used for welding in all cases.
I fully agree with what was said above; it depends specifically on the convenience of constructing the heat exchanger. Also, I’m a beginner, so I hope to receive a lot of guidance from Lou in the future! :(
For vertical welding, we manufacture non-ferrous metal containers, and the welding environment has very high requirements.
You can use any welding method – it depends on the equipment available in your workplace; as long as the welding conditions are met, that’s fine
However, automatic welding machines also have their drawbacks; for example, the fluctuation of the soldering iron can easily cause solder beads to form!
