For packed towers using polypropylene packing, it is important to pay attention to temperature; no such concern is needed for other types of packing. Also, before starting up the packed tower, it is necessary to check the pressure difference to see if there are any blockages in the packing. Besides, is this a washing tower or a reaction tower?
I would like to ask how to test the pressure difference and how to determine if there is a blockage based on the pressure difference. Thank you for your help
A packed tower definitely involves counter-current gas-liquid contact, but there are also types with co-current gas-liquid contact, such as vacuum absorption towers. Regardless of which method is used, whether air is introduced first or vacuum is created first, if the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the tower exceeds the normal level, it basically means there is a blockage
I’m not quite sure how to check the pressure difference before driving; I hope someone experienced can give me some advice. We use packed towers; it seems we’ve never tried them before
